Important ordering information

We know that ordering the latest tech can be stressful and we’re here to help. Whether you order from us online or in-store, the terms and conditions below apply to all orders processed by Hughes (either online or by any other form of communication) and are the key bits to remember for our happy shoppers. By purchasing off this website, you are agreeing to the terms listed on this page. Take a look over the information below and feel free to get in touch if any questions come to mind.

Prices

Shop till you drop with all of the product prices shown on our website including VAT. A retail contract is created between us and our customers once the order is accepted – this is our promise to you that we will provide the very best service we can give. Spot an error? In the event that a product is listed at an incorrect price due to a typographical error or a mistake in pricing information received from our suppliers, we will not process your order and will instead alert you immediately to the actual price of the goods. You can then choose to continue at this updated price or cancel your order. You have our word that we will not process any such order without your say so. Please be aware that the prices quoted are subject to stock availability.

Fraud

At Hughes, we have your back! Like many online retailers, we use extensive security measures to verify orders made via our website. This helps us protect you from online fraud, with all orders checked as thoroughly as possible using the information provided. As a result of these extra security measures, we might need to speak to you before we dispatch your items. If this affects your order, we'll make sure to notify you as soon as possible. We may place orders temporarily on hold if we are not able to reach you, so please provide a current and suitable telephone number. We would not contact you via email in this instance.

Products

We want to make sure that you always get the best product for your needs. Our product images, descriptions and specifications are shown for guidance only and may vary. For example, cabinet/case/button colours and arrangement may vary, TV stands shown may differ from those supplied and remote control designs may change during a manufacturers' production run. Some products may also require set-up and/or assembly.

Pre-orders

Always want the latest tech? So do we. Our pre-order dates are provided to us by the suppliers themselves to let us know when the exciting, new products are due to reach our warehouse. To make this as fair as possible for all involved, these are allocated on a first come, first served basis. On the rare occasion that there aren’t enough to go round, you will receive an email letting you know a new ETA or if a refund is on its way.

We’ll make sure to get your delivery booked in as soon as possible once it arrives with us so that you never have to wait too long. Keep an eye out for updates from one of our couriers and feel free to change the date if you’re not going to be in! It’s always worth double checking the contact information you supply to us so that you receive these important messages.

We reserve the right to not accept Bulk Orders from trade businesses and individual consumers, however our dedicated Hughes Trade department are sure to be happy to help. Contact them to get all of the tech your business needs at exclusive trade prices.

Guarantee

We want to put you at ease! All products are supplied with a minimum guarantee period of one year following the date of delivery for true peace of mind. If you would like to extend the warranty of your product, please contact a member of our sales team for a quotation on 0371 231 3113. Products keep in mind that these products are sold for domestic use only.

Payment

Avoid any unexpected surprises with payment for your new items taken as soon as the order is placed. Please note that a contract between us is not formed until we have processed the transaction and dispatched the goods. We accept payment by most major credit and debit cards as well as PayPal for minimal stress. This even includes the offer of PayPal Credit on selected products. If you have any issues making your payment, please check with your bank in case they want to carry out an extra security check. If you are still having problems, please call us on 0371 231 3113.

Your right to cancel

We know your rights, but do you? Your right to cancel starts the moment you place your order and ends 14 days from when you receive your goods. This 14-day period is the time you have to decide whether to cancel, you then have a further 14 days to actually send the goods back. These items must be unused (not installed) and returned in the original box/packaging.

Your right to a refund

There may be a slight delay in getting your refund processed, but don’t worry, we are on the case! You should receive a refund within 14 days of the goods being received back to us, although a deduction may be made if the value of the goods has been reduced as a result of the customer handling the items more than was necessary. For reference, the extent to which a customer can handle the goods is the same as it would be if you were assessing them in a shop.

Refunding the cost of delivery

All refunds should include the basic delivery cost of getting the good to you. This does not include additional fees for an enhanced service e.g. expedited/express delivery, weekend delivery, installation or removal of a scrap appliance.

If more than 14 days after the delivery date have passed, we are sadly unable to accept back unwanted gifts or non-faulty items. If your item is faulty, please see the 'Service' section of our website. We are also able to arrange an insured collection if requested but this will be at your own cost. If this is an option you are interested in, please contact us for further information and pricing. 

Lost one of the original, factory-packed accessories for your return? Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us. The following guide prices apply for the missing items, although the actual price may vary depending on the manufacturer:

  • Instruction Book - £5 to £15 
  • Lead - £5 to £30, SD Card, Memory Stick Etc - £5 to £100
  • Mains Adaptor / Charger - £30 to £50
  • Rechargeable Battery - £30 to £50
  • TV Stand - £25 to £250

Receipt

Accessing a copy of your receipt for online purchases is no trouble at all with it available to view on your Hughes account or, if you don’t mind waiting, you can email us requesting a copy at sales@hughes.co.uk
