I recently moved home, into a rented property. I have a son aged 4 who loves racing his cars and building train tracks. Which means a lot of playing on floor. It was clear that the carpets in our new home were old and were in need of a clean, so I opted for the Bissell carpet cleaner, (20W7E).
I wasn’t expecting the carpets to look new, but I was certainly hoping for an improvement. I didn’t pre-treat the carpet, all I did was vacuumed it first and used the solution that came with the cleaner, with warm water. On the water tank it was very clear where to fill the water up to and how much solution to put in. I found that I could do my sons room on just one tank, his room is around 2.5m x 3m. After doing the whole room I wasn’t sure that it had made a huge difference and decided to look again when the carpet was fully dry.
I headed off to empty the waste water tank. Oh my word – there was DEFINITELY going to be an improvement! The water was a very dark brown, I couldn’t see through it and I was a bit shocked at just how much dirt had come up!
I decided to go over it again, so repeated the process step-by-step again. This time I could see that the carpet looked cleaner, the waste water tank still had dirty water in but was nothing compared to the first time. After an hour or so the carpet had almost completely dried; it was a sunny day and I had all the windows open so I’m sure this helped.
After the carpet had dried fully I could definitely see an improvement; it looked and smelled fresher. The cleaner was so easy to use, it has a long power cable which saves having to worry about finding sockets or using extension cables and having the beater bar certainly helped with the deep cleaning of the carpets. Filling up the water tank was simple, it just lifts out, and clicks back in with fiddly buttons or levers. This was the same with the waste water tank, just a clip on each side and it just lifts out. Under the waste water tank there is an additional lever to lift so you can take another part off to wash. Again it was very simple to take apart, rinse off and put back together.
The cleaner is lightweight, and has an adjustable handle for easy storage. I would absolutely recommend this product. It’s a great buy. Easy to use, and did a very good job.
