Cleverness and design – that is what the stylish Panasonic TX40EX600 is all about. With its adjustable stand designed to suit your furniture and AV equipment, the EX600 will fit in with the décor in every home.
The EX600 even has 3 HDMI ports, which is fantastic for connecting up Sky and games consoles. Luckily, for all those film lovers out there, Panasonic has released their DMPUB400EBK Smart 4K Blu-ray player so you can watch the latest releases with cinema-quality pictures from the comfort of your sofa!
User Interface
Panasonic have once again powered this year’s sets with their easy-to-use user interface. Just press the ‘home’ button on the remote, select apps and choose from the likes of BBC iPlayer, Demand 5, All 4, ITV Hub, YouTube and many more. The EX600 also has an inbuilt web browser, so you can chat on your social media accounts and there is also a BBC news app to keep up-to-date with the latest news, weather and entertainment.
The Panasonic EX600 even has access to Amazon Prime and Netflix (subscription fees apply), so your favourite TV shows, movies and box-sets are just a click or two of a button away.
Sound Quality
To get the best out of the EX600 it is recommended to bypass the sound from the TV itself and connect up a soundbar. The 2 x 10w speakers, although better than those in some televisions on the market, aren’t a match for the incredible picture. However, if you connect up the SCHTB488EBK soundbar and sub to the EX600 the sound really does come to life. It ups the watts from 20w of the television to a fantastic 200W, and gives you a dynamic Hollywood-level of sound.
Picture Quality
The EX600 is able to cope with pretty much anything – picture wise – you throw at it (please do NOT literally throw anything at your TV!) It is able to support multiple HDR (High Dynamic Range) formats and even HDR10 which is found on UHD Blu-ray discs. The BBC uses Hybrid Log Gamma HDR which means that all your content will look as amazing as the programme creators intended.
Whether you are watching TV via Freeview Play or watching a 4K video on YouTube, the EX600 is able to give you the best picture quality through the up-scaler. Using technology inbuilt into the software, the EX600 is able to create deeper blacks and more vivid, brighter colours to give you that immersive feel.
Looking at the TV, the picture looks not too bright or bold; the picture looks lovely and natural. Darker shadowed areas look clear, with plenty of detail. The colours are not boosted so much that they become too over-powering; it is just the right amount of contrast.
The pedestal
Gone are the days of choosing a TV that won’t suit the room if you choose to redecorate. The EX600 has a new stand feature which allows you to reverse the feet to change the look to match the environment it’s situated in. This is called “Switch Design”. The feet can even come off completely which allows you to wall-mount the TV instead. If you do decide to pair the EX600 with the SCHTB488EBK sound bar (and I highly recommend that you do), it will fit neatly between the feet without obstructing the remote sensor.
Freeview Play
Simply put, Freeview Play features live TV and on demand programmes, all in one place. You can watch catch-up TV through your TV guide and even access last week’s shows, on demand.
You’ll find programmes from BBC iPlayer, ITV’s Hub, All 4, My5 and UKTV Play sitting alongside more than 70 digital channels and 15 HD channels. Just make sure your TV or recorder is connected to the internet and it’s that simple: you’re good to go. And the best bit? With Freeview, there are no monthly fees and no subscriptions, ever. You can check what channels are available to you to help you make the most out of Freeview play
So if you want a TV that will not only look good in your home, it will also make anything you watch look amazing, then buy online, use our Click & Collect service to pick up in as little as one hour or ask your local store about a demo.
