The Benjamin Foundation
Our chosen charity, The Benjamin Foundation, is close to all of our hearts. Offering emotional, education and employment support for vulnerable young people in and around East Anglia, they continue to make a big impact in the local community and help create a brighter future for us all to enjoy.
To help do our bit for this amazing cause, our staff regularly hold fundraising events with everyone eager to join in. From charity bike rides to sponsored walks, we can’t wait to see the difference we can make. This summer, several of our staff bravely took part in a skydive with Hughes’ matching the donations raised up to £10,000. With this contribution, they raised over £21,000.
We know that any funds raised will be put to good use by The Benjamin Foundation with their services constantly expanding since its founding in 1994. Following the loss of their son Benjamin, Richard and Vanessa Draper made it their mission to support young people at risk of homelessness by opening their first accommodation service, Winston Court, in 1997. The charity has now grown and offers a safe haven for up to 200 people (aged from 16 to 25 years old) each night. This amounts to an amazing 50,000+ safe nights’ sleep a year and has led to them proudly becoming the regional partner for the End Youth Homelessness campaign.
Realising the need for emotional support, The Benjamin Foundation has provided over 10,000 wellbeing sessions in just the last year. This not only improves mental health, but also gives a much-needed self-esteem boost as well as a feeling of being understood amongst their peers. If this wasn’t enough, over 400 young people attend their youth work in the community to gain new life skills and expand their horizons.
Want to find out more? This is just the tip of the iceberg on what The Benjamin Foundation achieves each year and we can’t wait to help further to see what difference we can help make.
