I’m already a huge fan of voice-controlled technology and have a number of brilliant Panasonic products so I was delighted to be asked to review the Panasonic SC-GA10. The first thing that I was struck by is how good this speaker looks, with elegant minimalistic styling. Available in a black or white finish, this speaker will look good wherever it’s sited.
Set-up is incredibly simple and straightforward and installing the Google Home app meant I was able to get my music playing within minutes. You can use the app on your ‘phone or tablet but where this speaker comes into its own is when you simply say “Ok Google, play some music.” Say goodbye to remote controls and faffing on your smartphone. Relax, check out your social feed on your smartphone and just ask the Google Assistant on your GA10 Speaker to play your music. You can ask for music from Spotify, Google Play Music, Deezer, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and much more besides.
It’s not just about the music, though; put your Google Assistant to use in a way that makes YOUR life easier. Ask it questions (“Ok Google, how long will the drive to London take?”) Get answers on sports, weather, finance, calculations, translations and more. Get the latest news. Get the weather and plan your day. It’s your personal Google Assistant, always ready to help. Start the Assistant with the words “Ok Google,” and then you can ask about the weather, your calendar or a host of other queries. The SC-GA10 has two tiny (but effective) mics on top that work brilliantly to pick up your voice commands. You can also use “OK Google” to play, pause, skip music & control the volume.
Panasonic have been creating awesome audio components and appliances for decades and their audio expertise is evident. There’s expansive, rich sound, room-filling acoustics and true depth to the bass. Sound quality is down to two wide-angle soft dome tweeters, a dual voice coil woofer and a bass reflex port that creates the warm bass.
