Short on space? Short on time? Short on love for household tasks? Then this may well be the review to revolutionise your cupboards and free up some time and energy! Today I review the Morphy Richards 330009 multi-function steam generator cleaner & iron.
When I was asked to review a steam mop / iron combi I was more than a little confused. How could a mop then be used to iron clothes? Or, vice versa, how was I to iron the floor clean. As previous posts attest, I am not ironing’s biggest fan, so the idea of faffing about doing that was not compelling! On receiving the box, though, it was obvious where I’d been going wrong; this was effectively two appliances (iron and mop) sharing a steam generator. Add in the huge range of tools, however, and what you have is a 12-in-1 appliance. Featuring a full 5 bar of pressure and 190g of instant steam you get the iron and mop, floor cloths, carpet glider, extension hose, a base with wheels, worktop attachment, jet nozzle, 2 nylon brushes, a squeegee and 2 cloths – all with a user manual that I obviously put to one side, unread, as a true measure of how easy it is to use. Don’t try that at home though folks: ALWAYS read the manual first!
Simple to use, I filled it up (the large 1.8L water capacity means that you can iron and/or clean for longer without having to refill), left it to heat up for a few minutes then set about cleaning.
Powerful Steam Generator
200g of constant steam for crushing creases and 5 bar pressure for instantaneous steam output make this a great, powerful steam generator. So not only is it an iron, it’s also a versatile steam cleaner. The various attachments and great steam function made light work of the shower, bath, basin, kitchen sink and utility room and kitchen worktops. With no chemicals used, I was happy to use this whilst The Things were playing in the kitchen (e.g. making mess as quickly as I was cleaning it.)
For the iron test, I selected 2 shirts, school trousers and a quilt cover (don’t want to overdo it!) The steam generator made light, fast work of everything – in a fraction of the time. It’s well-documented, my loathing of ironing, but this is one piece of kit that makes the task FAR more tolerable and, I have to say, everything looked really good and the bedding looked like it had been professionally done!
