I have worked with the company for less than a year now and have tried and tested a number of washing machines as part of my training and my own learning curve. As part of my role, I obviously get to try out lots of different products, attend specific training and get insight & feedback from my customers and peers. With all these factors in mind, it didn’t take me long to plum for the machine I would want as my new washing machine: the Miele WDD030 EcoPlus and Comfort washing machine.
I don’t need to comment in-depth on Miele’s pedigree; the simple fact that they have been named as the Which? Home Appliance Brand Of The Year for 3 years running, says it all!
The WDD030 washing machine is a 1400spin (A+++, very energy efficient), which is better as more water will be removed from your clothes. It is an 8kg honeycomb drum, which creates a thin film of water between the drum and the laundry, textiles are treated gentler, your garments keep their shape and also last longer. Laundry glides gently around the drum.
The WDD030 washing machine has 12 different programmes, more than enough to suit everyday needs. The Express 20 programme allows you to wash a smaller quantity, very speedily in just 20 minutes. Just load the machine, select the Express 20 and you’ll have about enough time to boil the kettle, brew a cuppa and sit down before the wash is done!
The machine features a sleek programme display in the middle, with programmes on the right and a detergent draw is on the left. Everything is simple and straightforward to operate (although I always advise you to read the instruction manual before the first use.)
Miele know that aesthetics are important and this machine doesn’t disappoint. Finished in white, with a satin silver door, it has an enamel front which cannot be scratched, does not rust, fade or age. Behind the good looks is strong function, too, with cast steel hinges which are guaranteed for 10 years.
Customers purchasing this machine will receive a free 10 year warranty, which is absolutely fantastic to know; no more worrying whether your appliance will last you 2-5 years!
Now, I will delve into more detail about the WDD030 washing machine, hopefully making your decision to purchase the washer easier and explaining why, in my opinion, it is one the best washing machines to buy.
The WDD030 has new user interface, the DirectSensor, a large display screen with a yellow indicator and sensor buttons. The control panel is touch-sensitive – meaning it reacts to your fingertips – and is incredibly easy to operate. If a sensor is brightly lit, this means currently selected and if a sensor is dimly lit this means selection is possible.
There are sensor controls for temperature and spin speed. After you have selected a wash programme with programme selector, the recommended temperature in degrees Celsius and spin speed in (rpm) lights up brightly, the selectable temperature and spin speeds light up dimly.
There are a host of extras, where you have various options that can be added to the wash programmes; the possible extras light up dimly allowing you to choose the best option for each and every wash.
Miele’s CapDosing is brilliant. Featuring single-use capsules for special fabrics such as wool, silks, sportswear and reproofing, all of which require specific detergent care, you have pre-portioned dispensing of the special detergents, fabric conditioner, reproofing agent and detergent enhancer. Dispensing is always fresh and clean, easier to handle and no overdoing it or under-dosing.
Special Programmes Outdoor and Reproofing, is a simple programme for specific textiles, ensuring you have optimum wash and care performance while washing and spinning.
After the programme has started, the programme duration will appear on the display in hours and minutes. If the delay start function has been selected the programme duration will appear at the end of the delay start time.
The combination of the Miele brand, the functionality, intelligent programmes and 10 year guarantee saw this washing machine top my list of “Most Wanted Appliances”.
