After announcing Hughes Trade’s official supplier status of the Blueair air purifiers earlier this month, we couldn’t wait to put one of our newest products through its paces. You can imagine our excitement when we got our hands on the HealthProtect 7770i Air Purifier in the office and we couldn’t wait to give it a thorough test to see whether it’s suitable for our client’s requirements.
In the current climate, cleaner air has never been more important, and the Blueair HealthProtect 7770i boasts some impressive features that could benefit anyone and everyone. This includes a unique combination of two filtration technologies that work together to effectively remove up to 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.1 micron. This traps even the smallest viruses and microplastics, in addition to the usual dust and pollen, and gives 24/7 protection against viruses and bacteria.
On unboxing the unit, the first thing that struck me was how stylish the unit looks with a sleek, white aesthetic. This unique design creates an omni-directional airflow to ensure that air reaches every corner of the room.
The set-up is quick and simple, just insert the large, booklet-style smart filters that are supplied with the unit. These have a lifespan of between 6-12 months, dependent on use, and can be monitored in real time. It is these that filter out those pesky micro particles. All you have to do next is to simply plug in the power cord and you are ready to go in seconds.
The controls and display are located at the top of the unit and are very clear and easy to read. Here you can view the number of particles (from pm1, pm2.5 and pm10) that have been removed, along with the temperature, air quality and humidity of the room. A light bar that runs along the front of the unit gives you a very clear indication of the air quality with a red (meaning very polluted) to blue (excellent air quality) colour indicator.
Another notable feature for the Blueair HealthProtect models is the addition of a Germshield. This is automatically switched on and works to constantly monitor the room for germ-prone environments. Even in standby, it kills at least 95% of bacteria and viruses to create the ultimate safe space.
Although these are all amazing features which add up to create an air purifier that is truly unrivalled in the market, what impressed me the most with the Blueair HealthProtect 7770i was the ability to connect it up to my smartphone. Simply download the Blueair app to your phone or device to start viewing and controlling the unit from anywhere you go.
This was a game changer for me, not only because I could view the air environment, filter life and control the unit in real time, but I could also set up a schedule for the unit to switch on 30 minutes before I arrived in the office and switch off once I had left – all without ever having to touch the controls! It can also be controlled via Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa devices, allowing the unit to simply switch on/off when you enter or leave the room. Another great advantage of the app was that it allowed you to add multiple units. This is perfect if you have several offices or rooms and it can all be monitored, and scheduled, without ever having to leave the comfort of your sofa.
It is also worth mentioning just how quiet the unit runs in Auto Mode. It actually took me popping the fan up to full (which I did from the app) before anyone in the office even mentioned it.
My final thoughts after using the Blueair HealthProtect 7770i Air Purifier for several weeks is that it’s an absolutely fantastic unit which has noticeably improved the air quality in the office. It has also brought extra peace of mind to my work colleagues who are now working in a safer and cleaner workspace thanks to this device. For anyone looking to improve their work environment, this a must-have purchase.
