The team at our Fakenham store have been getting down and dirty with their washing machines, exploring just how badly untreated machines can get caked in limescale. Limescale is especially prevalent in hard water areas, so it’s important to check your machines and appliances regularly.
Just because you can’t see the limescale encasing the heating elements in your washing machine and dishwasher, doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Really, it is. Many parts of the country have notoriously hard water (check the Defra map here) which can cause irreparable damage to kettles irons and, of course, your washer and dishwasher.
What many people do not realise is that is also effects the efficiency of your appliance. For every millimetre of scale covering the appliance’s element the efficiency rating is reduced by one grade. This means that your ‘A’ rated washer could be reduced to a ‘C’ with just 2 millimetres of limescale.
Help is at hand, however. With one monthly application of Professional Limescale and Detergent Remover, the limescale in your machine is not only reduced but is in fact removed, just as it says on the box!
As an experiment, the team at Fakenham got their hands on some two year old washing machine elements and a packet of the aforementioned limescale remover. Placing the elements in a bowl half filled with water, the team submerged their elements so that only half of the element would be treated. After adding the limescale remover we kept checking progress and were stunned when it took only half an hour for the solution to work and visibly removed the calcium. Amazingly, just one application on a two year old element was enough to remove the thick white limescale and restore the steel.
The second function of the product is to clean the inside of your machine and remove the built up detergent and fabric softener that is the result of constantly using low temperature wash programs. This reduces the risk of expensive engineer callouts because of blockages in the pipes.
By doing this it is obvious to see that a monthly application can easily keep limescale at bay and prolong the life of your appliance.
