A few years ago Technics seemed to all but disappear, but now they are back. And what a comeback! They are, incredibly, even more stylish than ever and with a quality to match. Technics brings us their amp (SUC700AEBS); a high quality CD player (SLC700ES) and last but not least the network audio player (STC700AEBS). All of these can be operated with a single-use remote just by connecting up the amp to the NWAP and the CD player.
I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to have a thorough trial of this amazing kit and my feedback to all of our readers is primarily about just how great their return is. With the exceptional silver finish it is fine addition to any living room or any room in your home and they have an ability to make even badly recorded tracks sound as if they are coming straight out of the studio. It really is one for everyone especially with the aptly named remaster function. You can turn this one up to eleven and still hear every crystal clear guitar pluck and piano key press. The Technics amplifier really is a beautiful piece of kit; the VU dials help keep our digital world looking a little bit more analogue. With plenty of digital inputs, it keeps you up to date and able to use your TV as an input, giving you the pure and rich sounds you normally enjoy when you listen to your favorite album. One of the coolest things about the amp is that it can work with your speakers in complete harmony by sending out voltage to test the speakers and then measuring the response.
The network audio player comes with all of the functionality you would ever want, including DAB, FM, music servers, Bluetooth, airplay and USB playback. The USB playback essentially turns your Technics into an iPod/iPhone dock just with the use of your charging cable at lightning fast speeds. The sound that emanates from the speakers is so clean and clear, plus no hint of brightness. The best thing about the NWAP is that it does not discriminate through what type of file you wish to play, be it high-res, Spotify, MP3s or CD-ripped WAVs.
Now to the CD player: complete crystal clearness. One of my favorite albums is pretty much half of Bon Jovi’s collection, but the one track that stands out for me would be “Bad Medicine” I enjoyed listening to this track so much that every night I came home and gave it one more listen. The richness of the sound coming out of the speakers (I was using the monitor audio bronze 5s) was richer than Bill Gates himself. The build quality is maintained through the entire range, earning the price tag that is associated with it.
If you want to hear it for yourself pop in to the Hughes on White Lion Street, next to the Castle Mall in Norwich. We can also utilise our Smart Home service to survey your room prior to purchase to ensure that the system will suit your room and requirements.
This is the upgrade you have been waiting for. Technics are back!
