It’s never too early to start encouraging children to get involved with modern technology and this is exactly what Sandcastles pre-school in Bacton, Norfolk are set to achieve – with a little help from their local Hughes shop, of course!
The team at our North Walsham store have been involved in making sure that the pre-school is up to date with the equipment needed to help the children at a young age to get a better understanding of the new modern technological society we live in. We supplied them with a large Smart TV, tablets and a laptop to get their new IT department up and running with the very latest technology.
Sandcastles have a new web site and commented on the new IT department “We have a wonderful new set of ICT equipment including, Smart TV, DVD player, tablets and three LeapPads (tablets for children). The children can play educational games that link to our topics and view songs and dance videos, information clips and animations on YouTube. Staff have been starting the day with yoga activities; several children have been showing the exercises to their parents at home.”
The North Walsham team were invited to attend the opening ceremony, where they had the pleasure of meeting the teachers, children and some parents and were very proud to cut the ribbon (pictured), leading to the opening of the department. The laptop was connected to a large Smart TV which had a slide show of the children participating in various activities, whilst other children were playing educational games on tablets!
The teachers said that children can now watch educational videos on a whole range of different topics, and it was mentioned instead of having pen pals the children can have Skype pals from anywhere in the world, using the Smart TV! The team were amazed to see how the technology was being used to gain educational benefits and teaching children – without them realising it!
