Opening the box on the Samsung UBD-M7500 ultra HD Blu-ray player you will find the main unit nice slim remote, instructions, power cable and the all-important pack of batteries. The unit itself is quite compact measuring width 406mm height 44.7mm and 230mm depth so will fit nicely inside most cabinets.
On the front of the unit you have basic touch buttons for eject, stop, play/pause and power it also has a front USB port for easy access to insert a USB stick to access your own media. On the rear of the unit you have the mains socket, an HDMi socket, an optical socket and an ethernet connection. The remote is very sleek so won’t take up much room on the coffee table. The unit can be controlled entirely by the remote control.
Setting the unit up is very easy; simply plug in the mains cable and connect a suitable HDMi cable (not supplied). If you want to use the apps and online services you just need to connect an ethernet cable (also not supplied). The unit is hard-wired only so no need to use Wi-Fi settings as the player will connect automatically. If you are unable to connect directly to your router you can use an optional home plug to connect to your router.
When you have completed the steps to make all your connections, just turn the unit on it and in just a few seconds it will come to life. Once you have the menu screen up, you can simply put in a film, press play, sit back and enjoy your film with incredible definition.
This player is compatible with standard DVD’s, Blu-ray and UHD discs too. Of course, you will need a compatible UHD TV to watch the UHD disks.
If you want to fine tune the way the unit works to your own settings, just press the home button, go to the settings and you have four options: picture, sound, general and support.
If you run out of films to watch press the home button and you’ll have access to the apps (provided, of course, that you have an internet connection.) Most of the popular apps are there for you, allowing you to choose from BBC iPlayer, All4, YouTube, BBC Sport and many others. You also have access to paid content from providers like Netflix and Amazon Prime video, if you have or take out a subscription. There is also a web browser included for easy access to the internet.
If you use an optional optical cable to connect the player to a Samsung sound bar or compatible amplifier you can bring any film soundtrack to life so you can enjoy fantastic ultra HD picture with sound to match and using the built in Spotify and Deezer app (subscription required) you will soon be access and stream from millions of music tracks.
