Introducing the R3: the middle child in the family of the cylindrical, column-like range of Wireless Multiroom Speakers from Samsung. Just like its siblings, the R1 and R5, the R3 boasts 360 degree Omnidirectional Sound. Unlike conventional speakers that project sound in a single direction, Wireless Audio 360 fills the entire room with sound, thanks to Samsung’s Ring Radiator technology which disperses sound evenly in all directions. The R1, R3, and R5 are purposefully designed in a cylinder shape with a precisely calculated sound gap between the speakers and the acoustic lenses to equally resonate sound throughout the room.
When unloading the item from our delivery van I noticed the sleek looking box which has a life sized picture on the outside. The item looks and feels quality even when in its box, it even has a rather nice handle on the box too, perfect for carrying it away after you have purchased / rented it. I also noticed that Samsung has the royal crest on its box, I wonder if the Queen listens to her music on one at Buckingham Palace.
I could tell that Samsung had paid attention to detail, the quality feel of cardboard and the luxurious black smart packaging coupled with the clear easy to read instruction booklet with colour pictures certainly gave great first impressions.
After installing the app, which can be done on the majority of devices running Android or iOS, I was given a quick tour of the app which is very easy to use. I found it a breeze navigating around the app; it was easy to select speakers and you can use preset equalisers or use own settings to enhance the already superb sound reproduction, you can even change from listening to a speaker to the speaker on your phone if you are moving around between zones.
You can also pair the R3 with a compatible Samsung television that supports TV Sound Connect and can be used in conjunction with a soundbar to create rear surround channels; I connected the R3 to a Samsung TV in the store within seconds and enjoyed a much improved sound over the TV speakers.
I was impressed with the sound from the R3 and it competes very well to its rivals, the advantage with the R3 is that you can touch the top to pause / play your tracks and also swipe to the left or right to change tracks.
The OLED Display on the top of the R3 reacts to any changes you make (i.e. changing the tracks or the volume) and also is pleasing to the eye.
The Samsung Multiroom speaker system is completely flexible, setting up to the network was fuss-free and there is no need for separate hub which makes positioning the speaker simple. You can have up to ten zones which is ample for almost any household, you can have a different track coming from different speakers or you can link them all up to play the same source, perfect for summer parties.
Buy online today or contact your local store and find out more about renting this great speaker and more from our rental range.
