Having recently seen this at our HomeTech show in Norwich, I was very impressed! Standing at 422mm in height and finished in a white or black, the Samsung R7 Wireless 360 Multiroom Speaker is a real gem. It captures the quality and richness of the original sound with 192 kHz/24-bit sampling and delivers a closer feeling of live sound with stunningly realistic HD audio. Unlike conventional speakers that project in a single direction, the R7 is omnidirectional and the sound fills the whole room. Using what Samsung call ‘Ring Radiator’ technology, which disperses the sound evenly, throwing it out in all directions.
Its sleek appearance is aesthetically pleasing and the application for the controller features an intuitive interface, that allows you to control your music easily with a touch wheel dial for smooth song selection and direct play from the home screen and fast switching between menus. This includes the very best of subscription streaming services available on the web such as Spotify, Deezer and Napster… that’s to just name a few streaming services with a massive music database.
You can remotely control the volume of your music including your TV, Soundbar and Blu-ray players that allow you to quickly find the song you’re looking for, plus allowing you to use the queuing function to create your own playlist. Also sharing music across multiple audio devices in various locations of the house is made easy with the multiroom link.
There is an app available for the Apple Smartwatch and Samsung Gear S, which allows you to control your music directly from your wrist with the multiroom app. Leave your smartphone behind and use the watch controls to make quick selections from the song queue list, speaker list, and instantly control playback and volume.
You are able to create a complete surround sound system at home using a pair of R7’s without having to deal with a single speaker cable! All you have to do is add the speakers for amazing 4.1 channel sound, simply placing a Soundbar at the front and the two R7 speakers in at the rear for full effect.
A tripod stand is also available for the R7, which has a sleek minimalistic look and is
designed to showcase your R7’s premium appearance while beautifully complementing your interior. A tripod structure at just the right height, it’s both sturdy and perfect for maximizing your listening pleasure.
Samsung also offer a smaller version: the R6, which comes in the same styling, standing 232mm in height and with the same music streaming services, 360 sound and stunningly realistic HD audio.
Moving on from the R7 & R6 we have three more speakers in a more classic design: the R1, R3 & R5. These speakers are purposefully designed in a cylindrical shape, contributing to the best 360 sound output with a precisely calculated sound gap between the speakers and acoustic lenses to equally resonate sound throughout your home.
These three speakers make navigating your music easy with the R1’s intuitive top panel interface for effortless control. Simply tap to control playback, swipe to play the next/previous tracks and touch mode to toggle between Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and TV sound. For extra ease of use, an LED indicator lets you know the device’s status.
