QLED: what does it mean?
Q-Colour
Utilising Samsung’s innovative Quantum Dot technology the Q8 is one of the first TV’s to deliver 100% colour volume. Meaning that you get to experience your favourite content in spectacular, never before seen colour detail.
Q-Contrast
With extremely low reflectivity, the Q8 is able to deliver incredible contrast no matter what time of day or night. This means you are able to experience a picture that, no matter the conditions, will be as perfect as you would wish for.
Q-Style
In my opinion, one of the biggest and best changes this year is the style of the Samsung QLED range. Finally, in the Q8 you can have a TV that fits in to your living space and you can have the TV anywhere you want. Firstly, there is the near-invisible cable that comes with every QLED set. The idea is that you can have one, sleek cable connecting everything to your TV; no more unsightly clutter behind the TV, making for a nice clean, minimalistic design. The cable comes in a 5 metre length as standard although you can purchase a 15 metre alternative – Samsung really have thought of everything. Then there is the clean back design; you can conceal all the cables in the pedestal of the set meaning you can sit back and just simply enjoy the view.
Fancy wall-mounting the TV? Then thanks to the unique design of the QLED range you can now have the Q8 hung flush to the wall with the no-gap wall mount. Thanks to the design, the bracket is recessed in to the back of the set meaning virtually no gap between TV and wall. Not only that, but thanks to the Q8’s sleek curved design, you can experience fantastic viewing angles no matter where you are sitting.
Q-HDR1500
High Dynamic Range or HDR as it is otherwise known delivers exceptional brightness levels from the brightest whites to the darkest blacks, meaning you get to experience the latest Ultra HD Blu-ray, stream your favourite content or play the biggest titles in stunning detail, just as the creator intended.

Having set the Q8 up I can safely say that I was pleasantly surprised and impressed. Firstly, the set up itself was remarkably simple. Considering the changes in design, I thought it may have been a bit tricky. However, thanks to the unique One Connect box I was able to connect all devices easily. Coupled with the fantastic new cable management design I was able to conceal all the cables cleanly and easily.
Cosmetically, the Q8 has a super-slim bezel meaning that you are not distracted by a ghastly plastic surround. Secondly, there is the all-round metal design that really makes the Q8 look like a premium television. To complete the look you get a really well designed smart remote. With a quality feel and simple design you are able to control your TV and access your favourite content in style. And what better way to get the full use of your stylish smart remote than you access your favourite content in 3 clicks? Thanks to the Q8’s smart hub design, accessing the likes of You-tube or Netflix is effortless. If pushing 3 buttons isn’t simple enough, you can always try the voice control. As before with Samsung smart TV’s you are also able to take full advantage of Smart view meaning you can connect your smart device directly to your Q8. However, unlike before, and this is from personal experience, thanks to the latest update you can now continue to watch your favourite content and carry on using your smart device without interrupting it.
So in conclusion, the Q8 really is a TV that has to be seen to be believed. With it’s unique, stylish design, ground breaking technology and effortless operation I strongly believe that there are very few TV’s that can rival it, or for that matter, the Samsung QLED range in general.
