Samsung’s new range of soundbars which have only been released this year has become nearly as popular as their range of TV’s, especially one of their higher end models; the Samsung HWK950. This model goes above and beyond the day-to-day expectations of a normal soundbar and truly trumps a lot of the competition. Although it’s not an entry-level price, you are paying for an incredible model that delivers amazing sound. It’s not only the sound that will blow your mind, either; with a range of great features and some of their newest technology – straight from their audio lab in California – the Samsung HWK950 is one of the most advanced soundbars in the field.
This wireless soundbar comes complete with a wireless subwoofer and an outstanding 500 watts of power output, making this one powerful piece of tech. Calling this model a soundbar does not entirely fit the bill as this is Samsung’s award-winning idea to combat the classic home cinema system with wired surround sound. Connecting up the soundbar now doesn’t require the complicated wires to the back of the TV or trying to find the right length cables; although this soundbar does come with optical inputs and HDMI inputs, they aren’t necessary. Built-in Wi-Fi connects up to your existing Wi-Fi and your television, as well as Bluetooth. This means that you can switch from watching a movie, connected via Wi-Fi, to listening to other music services such as Spotify and Deezer through Bluetooth. Not only will this connect to your TV but also to any Samsung wireless speakers giving you a flawless multi-room setup.
The idea of a soundbar is to improve the quality of the sound you’re getting from the television and this soundbar does exactly what it’s meant to, only better. Samsung’s design with the rear speakers is from Dolby; by using Dolby Atmos it can support up to 128 independent audio objects all at the same time, meaning you get an ultimately superior sound. This set-up has 15 (fifteen!) built-in speakers to deliver in-depth sounds and amplify even the smallest details. The two rear speakers, which connect up wirelessly to the soundbar, join a front-facing subwoofer, to amplify the sounds not only at you but also above you, meaning that you’re getting complete surround sound and overhead sound, immersing you into the content you are watching. The soundbar itself contains 11 speakers: 3 on each side, 3 in the center and 2 facing towards the ceiling; the subwoofer has one front facing speaker and rear speakers each contain 1 forward facing speaker and 1 upwards facing speaker, making a total of 11 front-facing and 4 upwards-facing speakers. Whereas other soundbars and subwoofers direct the sound at you, this soundbar focuses on the sound around you and delivers sounds that the content makers intended you to hear and with 4K compatibility you will never miss a beat.
Samsung has truly gone above and beyond with this model and their technology will be hard to beat, it does exactly what you would expect it to do, and – better yet – what you didn’t expect. It will be a hard job to find something that would even come close to the immense sound and surreal experience that this creates; pairing overhead sound with surround movement sound will deliver a cinema-like experience in your own home. Even without listening to the quality it is easy to see what draws it away from the competition, with wireless connectivity, Bluetooth enabling and many other amazing aspects, including the amazing sound this would make a beautiful ensemble with any compatible television. This Samsung HWK950 soundbar is available online and in the Hughes Plus stores to listen to, demonstrate and take away today.
