With flat screen televisions continuing to get slimmer to look neat on a stand or attractive on a wall the unfortunate trade-off can be the smaller space left for speakers. More often than not the sound does not match the quality of the picture.
The Samsung HWJ6500 soundbar is a perfect solution to the problem and is fantastic value for money. Here are just some of the reasons:-
The HWJ6500 is designed to sit neatly in front of the Samsung range of curved televisions or can be wall-mounted using the brackets included in the box.
Connecting the soundbar to the television is straightforward and can be done in a number of ways. Many Samsung televisions released from 2012 onwards have a feature called “Sound Connect” which will enable the soundbar to be connected to the television wirelessly; customers who choose the next model in the range, the Samsung HWJ6500R, will also find that the subwoofer that comes with the soundbar is also wireless, giving the overall set up a very neat and tidy look. The soundbar can also be connected using an optical cable or if the television has a socket labelled ARC (audio return channel) then by an HDMI lead. Audio return channel is an HDMI socket which allows two-way communications of sound and picture between products. The benefit of this is that you can control the soundbar or television volume just using the one television remote control.
The sound of the HWJ6500 is both powerful but yet detailed. The main reason for this is that the bar has two treble speakers and four mid-range speakers all of which are powered by their own individual 22 watt digital amplifier; when you then take into consideration the 168 watt active subwoofer, you’re getting 300 watts of controlled power. So, whether it is music or film sound you’re after, it will perform beautifully
Another very handy feature of the HWJ6500 is “Clear Voice”, which is designed to enhance the frequency range of human voices – particularly helpful when watching the latest blockbuster action movie and you get to the part where the background “booms” and “bangs” make it difficult to hear the dialogue.
The soundbar also supports Bluetooth which can be very useful if you are having friends round for dinner or a party as they will be able to play the music from their phones through the system. While on the subject of entertaining, it is worth knowing that if you download the Samsung multi-room application to your tablet or smartphone and buy the Samsung WAM250 network hub you would then be able to create a 4.1 channel cinema system by adding two of Samsung’s range of wireless speakers to the back of your room. You could also create the ultimate party experience by positioning Samsung wireless speakers in different rooms around your home and by using the multiroom application you can play different music in each room to keep your guests happy. It is highly likely that your multiroom setup will become a topic of conversation with the partygoers.
To summarise the Samsung HWJ6500 is very good value for money because not only does it look really stylish it sounds fantastic, too. On a personal note, if you take into account the flexibility in terms of playing different sources of music and the fact you can also use it as a building block to create a home cinema or multiroom sound system I have come to the conclusion it is a bit of a bargain! The HWJ6500 is available to buy online and also available to rent (as are many of the Samsung wireless speaker range).
