In my spare time I go camping quite a lot with my family and was looking for a portable speaker. I had no clear idea of what I was after, brand wise, and happened upon the KitSound Hive. It attracted my attention straight away with packaging that is a bright and bold black and yellow. It is packaged in a small compact box which has a little neat handle to carry it away with once purchased. The picture of the product on the front of the box is easy to see and the instructions are well laid out and easy to follow. I noticed on the box that is has the Bluetooth icon which means you can easily set up Bluetooth connectivity through your settings on your smartphone. The box also states a list of its key features:

• Passive radiator
The speaker itself is small in size, and housed in a really nice white finish so it’ll fit in with any surroundings – outside or in. Once unpackaged, it was easy to stand up and felt reassuringly sturdy with 3 buttons on the top. Without consulting the instructions it was clear that these were 2 volume adjustment buttons (up and down) and the Bluetooth button.
On the side of the speaker there is an aux socket, an on/off button and a micro USB point. The Hive also comes with a USB charge cable and a velvet carry bag, which is ideal when traveling. The key features to this product I found are the excellent sound quality. The sound is warm and it is accompanied by a full amount of bass. It can also be used for call handling which is perfect when you’re out and about and the phone rings (this is obviously more useful the more popular you are!)
I found it handy that there is a charging indicator light that illuminates red when charging and then turns green once fully charged. Once it reaches full charge the Hive can be used for up to 10 hours of playback. I found this ideal for me as I am always on the go and travel a lot on summer breaks, meaning I don’t want a device that needs charging every hour.
The style and appearance of the product is very different to other brands out there. Each individual speaker is silver in colour and the design alone is an excellent selling point. The beehive design gives the product its name and makes it really stand out and look great.
I found that the product was really simple and easy to use; all I did was switch the product on, then went into my phone settings and switched my Bluetooth on. I then connected the speaker which was easy to pair the first time and now it stays as a paired device so when I switch it on, it automatically connects to my phone. I played various types of music through the speaker as well as fielding numerous phone calls – must have been a popular day! All in all, the speaker coped fantastically well with all that I threw at it.
I would highly recommend this product to everyone looking for a great looking wireless speaker as it’s simple to use and light to transport within its carry bag. The Hive has a great sound and looks great, such a current and modern speaker that is priced superbly for the quality that you get.
