KitchenAid are a long-established company, having been running for nearly 100 years. They have a reputation and company slogan for being ‘Serious about food’ and it’s evident that it’s an ethos they live by. I have reviewed the KitchenAid 5KMT221 toaster. I had never used KitchenAid products until I came across this toaster, instead I had merely marvelled at them on Great British Bake Off! This toaster really stands out, with its neat design that sees the traditional lever replaced by a button that elevates the toast up and down.
If you have never experienced any KitchenAid products before, the best I can compare it to is the feeling when you enter a luxury car. Ultimately, I suppose, one could argue that this toaster will do the same job as any lesser toaster on the market but it just feels more luxurious whilst in use. The build quality, styling and functionality easily mark this out as a product that’s worthy of the price tag.
The feel of the dials give the immediate impression of quality and even the crumb tray is on a spring release, so no more snagging at releasing a crumb tray and making a mess everywhere. There is no plastic in sight which again reassures you that no expense has been spared; you quickly realise that you are using a quality product.
Its smaller design is handy, so that it doesn’t take up to much space on my work tops and I can neatly tuck its wire underneath for a neat finish. No cheap, plastic casing here; the KitchenAid toaster is available in different colours, ensuring this toaster can be fir the décor of any kitchen. There is also a range of matching kettles and other equally beautiful KitchenAid products which you will undoubtedly convince yourself you need if you take the plunge and treat yourself to this premium product!
The temperature dial ranges from 1 – 7, giving you a wide range of toasting for all toast lovers – whether you like your toast pale & interesting or dark and crispy. You also find special functions such as “Defrost”, “Bagels”, “Reheat” and “Keep Warm”. The clever thing about the “Keep Warm” function is that it’s automatic. It uses a low heat to keep your toast warm for up to 3 minutes when it has not been removed within 45 seconds – the perfect solution when you’re just finishing scrambling your eggs, heating your baked beans or searching for the Marmite! Another nice little touch to the toaster is that once it is ready it will beep to notify you and slowly lifts the toast out.
Ultimately, if you like the feel of quality and want an excuse to treat yourself (and love toast) then you won’t regret buying this item. Add in the fantastic styling and great functionality and it becomes a must-have for toast fans!
