It’s official: spring has sprung so it’s time to get outside and get moving. With so many fitness trackers on the market, I set about checking out the Epson Pulsense. The Epson Pulsense100 is not just an activity monitor; it also accurately monitors the user’s steps, distance, calories, sleep quality and heart rate across five zones.
Epson are the first to achieve the five zone heart rate monitoring with their unique optical sensor, allowing them to combine data so that you can track both heart rate and activity through a well laid out and easy to use smartphone application that is available free from app stores for both Apple and Android.
Having trialled the Epson Pulsense I’ve found that, for me, the heart rate monitor is one of the best features this item has to offer. Not only is it accurately measuring your heart rate, it also displays the effectiveness of the exercise in real time. The Pulsense100 will send information via Bluetooth to the app telling you exactly what you’re getting from the exercise you are doing, including below fat burning zone, fat burning zone – low, fat burning zone – mid, fat burning zone – high, aerobic, anaerobic and maximum. This is also sent to the device itself and displayed through the LED’s on the front, allowing you to track how your workout is going at a glance. If you’re a fan of interval training or HIIT then this is a great function and can really help you focus and train better for more effective results – whether it’s strength, speed or cardio that you want to improve upon.
I have found the app really helpful as I could input what I have had to eat throughout the day to track calorie intake, this is a great feature as the app will also show how many calories I have burned so I can easily plan meals for the day. Other useful manual tracking includes, weight tracking and body fat % tracking. The app can automatically set targets based on the goals I want to achieve, this helps me plan weight loss and fitness and helps me exercise more effectively.
This product boasts a range of extra features that many of the other fitness tracking devices on the market simply don’t have such as its sleep phase wake-up alarm, water resistance up to 3atm, vibrating alerts for weekly summary emails, email and incoming calls as well as being very comfortable to wear.
This revolutionary activity monitor also aided me and the Hughes team through our Sport Relief challenges earlier in the month; it kept track of everything without fail, looked stylish and best of all… we helped raise over £150 for an incredible cause!
Available in different colours and in sizes from 135mm – to 210mm, the free sizing tool will help you decide on the right size. So don’t delay, get sized up and buy online or in your local store today!
