After recently moving house I was in the market for a new vacuum cleaner. Hearing good things about the Dyson stick vacuum range I decided to take the latest model, the V6 Fluffy, home to see for myself. My new house is made up of a mixture of hard flooring and carpets so I thought the Fluffy would suit me best. The first obvious question: why is it called Fluffy? Simply because it has a soft roller cleaning head – a fluffy one.
What so different about the Fluffy? Unlike all the other Dyson stick vacuums before this latest model has the addition of a new “Fluffy” head.
Thanks to its unique design the Fluffy head has two additional advantages:
• Firstly, when picking up large debris it forms a tight seal around it, allowing the debris to be picked up whilst maintaining a tight seal with the floor.
• Secondly, due to the anti-static carbon fibre filaments on the roller head it helps to alleviate static, holding dust to the floor surface allowing it to be sucked into the vacuum.
In addition to these excellent features, I also like the idea of a soft material on my hard floors to protect them.
The Fluffy comes with a docking station that is wall-mountable which makes it fantastically easy to store. This also houses the additional tools that the Fluffy comes with, including dust brush and crevice tool. In addition to these, it also comes with a motorised mini tool for pet hair and ground in dirt. If you still have that stubborn bit of dirt that will not shift, then no problem, the Fluffy comes with a boost button that gives you 6 minutes of higher suction.
Before taking the Fluffy home I already knew that the Dyson stick vacuum range was very good. I really like the lightweight design and convenience when vacuuming stairs etc. Unlike most other stick vacuums the Dyson is able to be taken apart to suit what you are vacuuming. As for the 20 minute run time. I had heard many people say it wasn’t enough, but trust me – it is. So much so that the very same night I took the Fluffy home I vacuumed my entire house on one charge! And the fact that I did not have to keep unplugging it every 5 minutes meant I was done in no time at all. I have found the Fluffy an excellent vacuum, lightweight, convenient and very good quality. I have liked it so much that I didn’t want to give it back. Unfortunately, my manager wasn’t too keen on that idea, so it is now on my Christmas list instead!
