The first ever Pride of South Holland awards are picking up momentum. These awards recognise people who work hard to support others in our local community, with nominations being taken for many different categories. The awards are being run by local paper the Spalding Voice, Tulip FM radio station and Spalding and District area Chamber of Commerce. Many local businesses are sponsoring the awards and Hughes Spalding will be sponsoring the ‘Charity Worker of the year’ award.
Our Spalding branch manager, Thomas, told us why he had decided to get involved with the awards. “Spalding is a great market town with many hard working and passionate people. As a supporter of the local community I thought it was important for us to help by sponsoring the one of the categories.”
The charity worker of the year category recognises the people who dedicate their time to charity work, either by fundraising or volunteering. In total nine people will be recognised in areas such as lifetime achievement, senior citizen, community hero and bloomer of the year.
Nominations are currently being taken, so if you know someone local to Spalding who deserves to be recognised for all their hard work you can make a nomination through the Spalding Voice newspaper.
The awards will be held at the South Holland Centre, Spalding, during the summer. Guests and nominees will be treated to a drinks reception and local entertainers.
