Hughes are once again proud to sponsor a prize that recognises some of the hardest working and most selfless people. These individuals are passionate about caring for others and show great dedication. As a family run, local business, we feel it’s important to recognise those that work hard in our local communities, to make them a better place.
It was a very hard task to find an overall winner, many individuals were nominated in this category, all winners in their own right. We finally narrowed it down to three places…
3rd place went to Gunita Sele – she can always be relied on to help keep Spalding town clean as part of the spotless spalding campaign, one of the most active members with boundless energy and an enthusiasm for new ideas to help any challenge, her overriding ability to integrate and engage with others of many nationalities, is a great help and asset to any organisation. Gunita is also involved with other activities and groups where her input will see her grasp and embrace the task ahead.
2nd place went to Vanessa Browning – with help from others overcome her own personal problems, gaining strength and direction she now devotes her free time to supporting many within the community, either through talk or bringing them together, or even as an online support. Vanessa very often blends into the background not looking for any recognition, and has recently set up her own unique club to promote wellbeing through exercise.
1st place went to Harold Payne – a man who really needs no introduction, he has been working and raising funds for many years, supporting the Normandy Veterans and Help for Heroes, in this time he has raised in excess of £750,000. Harold puts others first in his relentless quest to keep raising funds, often seen in all weathers at the front of many charitable events, either at his own business or other charitable events in the area, where his enthusiasm is best described as contagious.
We would like to congratulate everybody involved, it was a delightful awards ceremony!
