The first Saturday of the Football League season is now behind us. Not a great curtain-raiser for me but there we go; it’s early days.
For some – the non-football loving folk, the football widows and widowers, fans of garden centre visits, DIY marathons and family days out – this weekend heralded the start of a bleak nine month period.
A day greeted with the same feeling of “Already?!” that befalls me when I first spot a ‘celebrity’ entering the jungle, or experience my first wave of premature Christmas tree wrath (earliest to date: 1st September)
A day which signalled the start of a nine-month sporting marathon of ups and downs, of spirit-soaring wins away and morale-sapping hammerings at home; the football season guarantees fans of the beautiful game nine months of highs and lows. Our fantastic Sky offer will allow you to see more live matches than ever before.

The team at our Mason Road have got football fever already and the (mostly good-natured) banter has started already. Darren, Jack, Justin & Sam are all backing Norwich, Tom’s an Arsenal fan, Karl & Sean are cheering on Man United and Adele’s a Birmingham fan. We’ll keep up with them – and share their highs and lows – throughout the season.
