THE FAKENHAM SHOWCASE DAY & SHOPKEEPERS OLYMPICS
We were proud to have recently taken part in a great community event: the first ever Fakenham Shopkeepers Olympics! A series of light-hearted challenges in Fakenham town centre, including street tug-of-war, golf challenge, football skills, rugby skills, table tennis, gym triathlon and military circuits.
The town was divided into four teams and and all shop traders competed for the Brenda Coldrick Cup (named after the former Fakenham mayor Brenda Coldrick). This was a great opportunity to welcome customers, old and new, to the town.
Our own Fakenham Hughes team were in the thick of the action. Warren Sayer, our store Manager, took part in the egg and spoon race and balloon relay, Neil showed his skills in the golfing challenge and he and Martin flexed their muscles in the tug-of-war. The event ran alongside the Fakenham Showcase day, which highlighted many of the local actives available in the town, including live music, sports and fitness to try out for free, food stalls and plenty of giveaways.
We all had a fantastic time and successfully managed to be on the winning team. We’d like to say that it was down to our rigid training regime and strict dieting but…
A short film has now been produced by award winning Lonsdale Productions in association with activefakenham.org.uk. Warren does feature in a short film that will be released at a special red carpet gala premiere on Friday 13th June at The Gallery Bistro, 37 Market Place, Fakenham. Come on down and join in the fun; as well as spotting our own ‘film star’ Warren, you can even have your photo taken on the red carpet! We will also be showing the short film in-store throughout the week of 16th June 2014 or on request. The video is also available to view by clicking here.

Our lovely shop is conveniently located on Norwich Street, one of the Fakenham’s busiest roads and only a minute’s walk from the town centre. With two public car parks within a short walking distance and a handy customer car park at the rear of the store, visiting us and/or collecting stock could not be easier. Disabled access is excellent with wheelchair access to all areas.
