As proud sponsor of local Diss Otters Swimming Club (DOSC), Matt and the team from our Diss store were pleased to represent Hughes at their recent annual club championships award night.
Diss Otters Annual Club Championships awards presentation was held on Friday 4th March 2016. This was the chance for all members to get together and have a party and receive their awards from events swum at their home pool in Diss. Swimmers had the choice of competing in 18 events ranging from 50m to 1500m and Individual Medleys.
Diss Otters Swimming Club was originally formed in 1987 and now boasts more than 150 members and a team of coaches and assistants. The DOSC committee is run by a great team of volunteers and remains a non-profit-making organisation. The expenses associated with pool hire, kit, equipment and so on are raised through swimmers fees, friendly sponsorships, community events and competitions.
Diss Otters Swimming Club continues to be a club for the community and places great emphasis on working together at all levels and across all ages to help and inspire swimmers to be the best they can be.
Head Coach Jamie Rush also gave special awards for Most Improved Girl / Boy and Swimmer of the Year Girl / Boy.
On the night 818 awards were issued, of which 277 were Gold, 226 silver, 139 Bronze, 86 Fourth, 59 Fifth and 31 Sixth place and prestigious awards were as follows:
Swimmer of the Year: Lauren Taylor
Swimmer of the Year: Matthew Munnings
Most Improved: Ellesha Close
Most Improved: Callum Blair
The team at Hughes would like to congratulate all those involved and wish Diss Otters Swimming Club every success in the year ahead.
