Winchester’s Wine Bar in Stowmarket will host an afternoon filled with fun and music, including some of the area’s best musicians, to support children and young people with cancer.
The family-friendly, Gig in the Yard takes place on Sunday 21 September, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Winchester’s Wine Bar in The Old Fox Yard will host music and activities from 12 noon to seven PM. Musical acts will include: The Stowmarket Concert Band, Keith Sadler, Steve Barton, Chris Francis, Let Go the Sky, Folk on the Hill and more.
Paul Ekpenyong, who recently completed the JP Morgan charity yacht race around the Isle of Wight, has organised the event, with the help of Allen and Wendy Winchester, in aid of the charity which helped him and his family when their son was diagnosed with cancer.
Mr Ekpenyong said: “Cancer has a dramatic impact on the whole family especially when they have the added financial burden of being away from their home in order to get the treatment their child needs. CLIC Sargent was a huge help to us when our son, Louis, became ill with leukaemia.”
The day promises to be highly entertaining with food kindly provided by friends. There will also be a raffle for which our Hughes Stowmarket store has happily donated prizes.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Daisy Turner said: “We are so grateful to Paul, Allen and Wendy for organising such a fantastic event in memory of Louis.
“Last year, CLIC Sargent Nurses and Social Workers supported 67 families and distributed grants totalling over £11,000 in Suffolk alone, which is why fundraising events such as these are so important.”
The day promises to be lots of fun and will raise vital funds, we hope to see hoards of people heading to the yard – pop in and say hello!
