Introducing one of the latest innovations from Dyson: The sparkling brand new Dyson V8 is here! Now with up to a 40 minute run time (depending on which tool you are using), Dirt ejector and new style accessories, it has somehow managed to improve on its older brother, the V6.
The V8 is quieter than Dyson’s previous cordless vacuums; it’s also exceptionally user-friendly. There is now a redesigned HEPA filter at the back, the max/min button is now a switch on top and, to top it off, the accessories now have the release buttons on them (rather than the appliance) so you can easily change the heads within seconds.
I have luckily got my hands on the new Absolute and the Animal versions. Both vacuums have the following accessories: a Direct Drive cleaner head, mini motorised tool, combination tool and the rigid crevice tool.
The Absolute also has the Fluffy soft roller head in addition to the above. This tool is designed for hard floors and will scoop up any debris on one sweep of the vacuum. It also has a flexible hose part on top, which means you can get around obstacles with ease. The soft roller is eager to clean as it does pull you along as soon as you pull the trigger!
The mini motorised tool is fantastic for cleaning the sofa and pillows and has an adjustable cleaning angle on the head to allow you to get those hard to reach areas.
The V8 is very cleverly balanced; with the weight of the motor kept near your hands cleaning cobwebs from corners is so easy with the crevice tool. This tool can also be used for getting into the corners of the sofa too, and with small holes at the end of the spout, it won’t get stuck to the material under the pillows! I also decided to clean the car out with this tool, and found that it fitted in all of the awkward spaces under the seats – my car never looked so clean! I even heard my neighbour (who was fighting with an extension cable to get his older upright Dyson out to his car) comment on how jealous he was that I didn’t have any cables to worry about. Between you and me, I felt rather smug as I’d already finished as he got started!
Cleaning the stairs was a doddle too, with the accessories all being able to attach to the hand-held part. The stairs took a fraction of the time it would’ve taken me with an upright or cylinder vacuum. The V8 is really light and you can get right into the carpet, all without pausing to unplug the vacuum, straining to carry it up the stairs and then having to find another plug point before you even start. I am so pleased with how much time the V8 saves me! And with a bigger bin, I now can keep cleaning for longer.
Dirt Ejector – Gone are the days of having to struggle cleaning out your vacuum or faffing about with bags. Thanks to Dyson’s new Dirt Ejector on this new V8, in one fluid motion, the entire bin will empty. Unlike its predecessor, you don’t have to remove the bin sides to clean around the cyclone area; the Dirt Ejector does this for you. I am so happy that Dyson have included this feature as it means you don’t touch any bin waste at all.
So, my overall verdict? The V8 is so good I had to purchase one myself. Even my boyfriend (who never used the old cylinder vacuum we had), tells me I am now not allowed to vacuum as he wants to use the V8; now THAT’S what I call time-saving. I even managed to snap a photo of him using it – much to his annoyance.
The V8 is so easy to use. It is such a significant improvement on what has gone before. I love the longer run times and how quickly it charges. The wall mounting bracket is fantastic as the V8 is always ready to go. There is now a battery level indicator just under your hand which is very handy as, even with 1 bar of battery left, you know you can do a room or two before you need to recharge. The new V8 has a redesigned HEPA filter which expels air to the sides – meaning the discomfort found in some other cordless stick cleaners (which may expel hot air onto your hand when using the appliance, especially unpleasant if you have sensitive skin) doesn’t happen. The soft roller head is so handy, and really does get up all the dirt from any floor surface. Being so quiet, you can even vacuum and listen to the TV or music at the same time. Vacuuming is no longer a chore with the V8 (and even less so when your other half does it!)
You can buy – or even RENT – from our Dyson V8 range online or contact your local store and ask about a demo. You won’t be disappointed!
