The new Bosch WAT28660GB washing machine is a step-up in efficiency and ease of use. The large load size of 8kg will help so many people with the washing large load for less wash cycles through the week but also it takes the guesswork out of how much detergent to add to the wash.

Bosch’s i-DOS system will work out exactly how much detergent is needed; all you do is fill its special containers with liquid detergent and softener and the machine will do all the hard work for you. This eliminates the danger of adding too much detergent (bad for clothes, those with sensitive skin and the environment). i-DOS doses each and every load with to-the-millilitre precision, helping you save money. As much as 7,000 litres of water can be saved each year simply by cutting out excess detergent and extra rinsing. It can also slash the average cycle time by as much as 14 minutes. And, of course, it does this while delivering outstanding results with every wash.

You won’t just save money on detergent; you’ll also save money on water consumption with the excellent ActiveWater Plus. ActiveWater Plus places a set amount of water in the drum at the start to allow it to work out what type of fabrics are in the drum i.e. towels will absorb a lot more water than shirts or blouses thus saving money.

Its new EcoSilence drive motor is fantastically quiet meaning less noise all round and especially important for those of us that live in open-plan houses where loud noises can be heard throughout the house. It also has increased anti-vibration, eliminating the load wobble vibration of some machines.

The easy-to-understand display panel is very helpful for those of us who want to know how much time is remaining for a cycle (or if, like me, you cannot remember the times of each cycle); this helps you plan what time to put it on or if you can get it out before you go out for the day.

The WAT28660GB also features the new wave drum which is installed on many of Bosch new machines; this not only improves the wash itself by opening up the fabric to allow the water to penetrate more easily through the fabric but is also a lot kinder to the fabric itself.

As time has progressed we are all looking for eco-friendly machines, with washing machines this has led to increased wash times at lower temperatures. This Bosch washing machine has a SpeedPerfect button which will reduce the time taken to do the wash cycle. The SpeedPerfect function will cost a little more to run but sometimes needs must – school uniforms etc.

A nice little feature for those of us who have had to empty the filter is the drainage hose which will allow you to drain off the water in the machine before you open the filter. Gone are the days of having a towel packed under it before you open the filter; a simple but very effective feature.

The control panel is a simple design, allowing you total control over the programs, right down to spin speed and temperature of each cycle.

The addition of a drum clean cycle is great as you need to keep the drum area clean and free from limescale as this is the downfall of so many machines… the bad smell , black spots on the seal and, of course, a lime scale build up . You can team this up with the excellent WPRO limescale and grease remover as this hygienically cleans the machine and removes any limescale to keep the machine running at its A+++ rating.
