Review: CDA HG6350SS 580mm Stainless Steel Gas Hob

Guest blog by Lauren & Jonny.

As I have never cooked with gas and I am a pretty average cook in general, this review will be interesting for both me and you! Hughes offers a large range of built in appliances from recognised brands such as Neff, Hotpoint, Indesit, Rangemaster and Bosch but I’m going to get to review the British brand, CDA.

CDA believe that the kitchen should be the heart of every home. They believe that the modern family kitchen needs to look good and perform brilliantly.  Founded in 1991, CDA is a UK-based company making high quality kitchen appliances, supported by a wealth of product knowledge and an extended 2 year warranty as standard on all of their products. As well as this extended warranty they also offer a whopping 5 year guarantee on all parts.

Offering variations in colour and sizes… the CDA range includes built-in hobs, single and double ovens and cooker hoods. The CDA range is perfect if you are looking for a complete kitchen makeover or just looking for the one item to fit in with your current work space.

The CDA HG6350SS stainless steel gas hob combines both functionality and sleek design, to provide a cooking appliance that is easy to operate and aesthetically adds a premium quality to any kitchen.

Even though this hob looks top-end it is very reasonably priced with the build quality to back it up. The wok support is removable, making it easy to use both with and without and all the cast iron pan supports are dishwasher safe. I liked the added touch of the controls being at the front, close to the simmer smaller hob as opposed to the back near to the high flame hob. The controls are also removable to get underneath and to make it easy to clean. It has an enhanced lip so that any spilling should stay down to a minimum and not get onto your work surfaces. With its automatic ignition and flame failure safety addition making it safe for the kitchen, I rustled up a quick chicken stir fry using the wok burner.

I researched through the CDA range, including the 6 and 7 series both of which come in black and stainless steel. The main difference with the 6 series model is the hob supports are made of enamel rather than cast iron – this does make them lighter in design which is good for cleaning purposes, but you may find if you do not care for these then after time they may be more likely to corrode. The 7 series offers a 5 burner option which, whilst being bigger in size at 70cm, stills fits in the same installation dimensions of a more standard 60cm hob, offering choice and practicality without the need to make large changes to your worktop.

Overall, compared to similar priced units I really feel that the CDA has a build quality well in excess of its price tag, and with such a large choice of colour and options, CDA should definitely be at the top of selection when you next come to need a new hob. Novice cook or master chef, I can recommend the CDA HG6350SS.
